Tracking Adsense

If you have multiple websites with Adsense ads on them you probably have thought about tracking Adsense earnings. There are a number of ways to track and analyse Adsense from free options that Google offer through to paid programs.

There is a ton of information about tracking Adsense in terms of which ad blocks are getting clicked on the most and from which of your sites. There is a lot of analysis you can do if you really want to get into Adsense in a big way. Now some people make a huge amount of money out of Adsense and it really is a workable business model. But I caution you to not put all your eggs in the Adsense basket.

Adsense is lucrative, there are ways to boost your Adsense earnings which can get you addicted to it once you start seeing three and four dollars coming in from one click! But remember if your entire earnings are from Adsense and for some reason Google cancel your account or just ‘change the rules’ then you could be lost for income until you re-establish yourself.

If you’re really focused on Adsense in a major way and want to analyse anything and everything then tracking Adsense with channels would be my suggestion. However, if you are more like me where you have multiple sources of online income and Adsense is just one of them then tracking Adsense via URL is perfectly sufficient.

To my surprise most people set up complicated channels and don’t even realise that Google provide URL channels too. URL channels mean that when you go into your reporting you can view an entire URLs page impressions, clicks and earnings. If you haven’t found where the URL channel set up is then these images will show exactly where to go and how to set it up. It takes a few minutes and you’re done. Simple.
